99 Grand Cherokee power door locks
My rear power door lock is making a real loud noise when it locks it still works but man is it loud. Is it a gear or is it the actual atuator thats the problem. Has anyone tried to take off the rear door panel I tried semms impossible any suggestions. Has any one else had a problem like this if so did you fix it yourself or bring it back to the dealer.

Re: 99 Grand Cherokee power door locks
It's the actuator, change it before it fails with the hatch locked closed--you need to remove the trim panel with the hatch open to change it.
Remove the trim panel screws, I think you need to disconnect the rear window defroster wires as well. Edit: On second look, I think you are referring to the rear side door panel. I don't have step by step instructions but this should give you an idea of what's involved. Remove the three door panel screws. Then carefully pry and pop the panel from the door frames pop on/off type fasteners. Disconnect the actuator links and wire connecter then replace the actuator. Re: 99 Grand Cherokee power door locks
My passenger side rear door doesn't like to unlock. At first I thought it was the child safety switch popping to "on" but it doesn't unlock even when "off". I am just unlocking it manually for now... kind of a PITA though...
