engine compatibility ???? HELP Blowen engine!!

I have a 96 sunfire auto trans 2.4 that spun a rod bearing on the crank. I have found some newer years 2.2 ecotech's and a couple of 2.4's availible to me. I don't care that much about doing it up, just really looking for a driveable car. can anyone direct me to a engine compatibility site or help me know what will fit in the 96? The 2.2 is inticing only since there is more things it seems they have out for that engine if someone would want to build one of these.
Thanks alot!!

delete one of your threads, you have the same one on here twice, in 2 different sections, the people that see this one are the same exact people that are gonna see the other one
moving on...

the only engine that will bolt right up is the one the car came with, other then that, ANY engine will fit with the right parts and tools

Like Jake said the only that will directly bolt and fit perfectly would be the same exact engine (2.4) if you want to throw a different engine in there, 2.2, 2.2 eco your going to have to get new motor mounts, wire harness and probably a couple other things.

BTW by any chance does you engine sound like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU2w89MFlKY
