what kinda transfer case?

hey guys, its my first time in tehse forums and i ned some help. I'm thinking of buying a '76 cherokee that is tricked out for off-roading. The only thing it needs is a new (or used) transfer case that works. Any of you know what model transfer case it needs? Also, can you tell me any good places to find one cheap (lowest i've seen is $300 from a private seller). Thanks in advance!
