1985 300ZX Turbo stock OEM parts question
Just had a few questions, perhaps this can answer some other people if they need some info before purchasing an 80's 300ZX...
1) Did Nissan install a bypass/blowoff valve for the turbo Z, or was it just straight-piped? 2) What kinds of intercoolers have you installed or seen installed on older 300zx's. I was kind of interested in a top-mounted intercooler, perhaps near the air scoop in the hood. if the installation is going to be easier, i would go with top-mount, just because i wont be running on high boost at all. i may stick with perhaps 9 - 10 psi, just because i want this engine and turbo to last a long time, and where i live, high boost is not necessary. 3) ive also looked into boost controllers, and modified ECUs, and seen that this should be done only when you want to achieve high boost, or levels that are comparably higher than the stock boost (which is 7 psi?). would i really need an upgraded ECU and a boost controller if i would want to only run at 10 psi max? Thanks, this should clear everything up, since I will be going to pick up the Z this weekend.
