Help with my buick

I have a 96 buick regal and the turn signals and brake lights have stopped working. I have replaced the turn signal relay and that did not fix the problem. Can anyone help please?

Re: Help with my buick

Welcome to AF.

You have a bad multifunction switch (stalk). Needless to say the contacts for the regular brake lights pass through the switch less the third high-mounted brake light.

Wink Re: Help with my buick

You can save a buck by "simply" opening the switch and pushing the selector down so its back touching the contacts. They are copper and fatigue easy.I did this a year ago and haven't looked back.
In my case I only needed a steering wheel puller (non-air bag). Dismantling air bag columns is listed on this site with pics. It IS possibly with difficulty to remove the switch from below the column without steering wheel removal, but I didn't try that.
You will be an electronic genius when you're finally done with Regals
Good luck

Re: Help with my buick

I replaced the signal switch using the great guide from this forum. It's not a hard job when you have the right tools. One part is tedious, but not difficult (getting a particular clip off). Took about 2.5 hours to do it.
