95 escort ac

I have a 95 escort, and the ac button is not on, but the air coming out feels as if it is on? I had the air on the other day, and turned it off, but it doesn't seem to be off.

If it the AC is still running you should be able to hear the compressor turning on and off from time to time. If still not sure, when the engine has been running for a few minutes, lift the hood and feel the AC tubes. They should not be cold if the AC is off.

It's been a while since I used mine, but I believe if you have the heater setting on DEFROST, the ac compressor is on regardless of whether the AC button is on.
