sonoma seems dead

I went out to start my 99 Sonoma and when I turned the key the dash lights flashed for a split second then went black after that nothing. I checked the battery with a volt meter and got 12.6 volts at the terminals but still nothing inside when I turn the key any suggestions?

Battery is dead. Should be over 12.6volts.

Clean the battery terminals as well.

thanks for the suggestions but it turned out to be a bad connection on the positive battery cable even though on first inspection it seemed tight it wasn't making good contact.
