Bad Smells

I have an 88 tempo and when i floor it things are ok untill i let off the gas a bit then i get this smell of chlorine or sulphur or something. whats the problem. i need to replace my muffler might that be the problem ??

This is nothing to worry about. The catylitc converter on these stick like crazy when you heat them up. Nothing to worry about.

This is nothing to worry about. The converters on these always smell that way when you heat them up.

When you go WOT(wide open throttle) the computer goes into WOT default mode, usually runing rich. It ignores the HO2S in this mode(goes open-loop). The added HC in your exhaust cause the catalytic converter to overheat and, in extreme cases, can melt the internals to the point where high back pressure results. By the time you smell sulphur it's fried. Replace it or "test pipe" it. High back pressure hurts HP and MPGs.
