Although if I had to choose between a neon or a focus, I would get the neon.

Our cars aren't sad they are bad ass! How many cars of this age do you know of that have the aftermarket support of a 4th gen civic/crx (excluding sedans, they need more aftermarket support) a better statement would be hey here are cars that suck a fat one. I wish my civic was rear wheel drive

Dude, I know you aren't bagging on one of my favorite cars, the Escort. They get just as much shit as civics do if not more and they are really decent cars. The Protege and 323 are also good cars and get nothing but shit. The only thing domestic on the Escort is the name, they have mazda engines running in them and in most cases (like the DOHC GT) they really fly. The SOHC engines aren't too bad but still good runners and can smoke a V8 just as quick as the Hondas. Of course most cars can do that if you actually know how to drive. Remember, I beat the hell out of my 323 by accident, I'm actually in the process of rebuilding it since the engine still runs sweet.

i dunno guys. we know an escort owner and a del sol (the d15 model) owner. they are both really good friend with equal racing experience and mods....except for the escort has NOS.

the del sol owner was telling us about the last time he had raced the escort. he says they took off even and when the escort hit NOS it flew past the del sol. then the del sol owner paused in his story because he started to chuckle. he then says..."but i caught him with no problem....i was like, that's all you got?"

i'd smoke them both...i supposed that's all that matters

the only bad thing I can say about the Escort/Protege/323 engines is torque... there's not much of it in the smaller SOHC engines. My 323 is a 16valve MPFI SOHC just like the civic but with stock intake (just added a new intake) it could go on top end but at bottom end it was kinda stuck. I've also got an auto tranny which anybody knows kills torque. my 87 Escort GL Wagon surprised me though, and it kinda got me into the import scene. It was a 1.9liter 8-valve (I think) CFI with a 4-speed tranny and a new AutoZone clutch. I only raced my friends 86 IROC but while he was smoking his tires I was gone and was riding out 2nd gear, but like I said, it's all in how you drive.
