Hey, look the engines in both the LX and EX are the same exept for the EX being equipped with VTEC. You can buy the VTEC computer or program which ever you'd like to call it. It's pointless putting a head from an EX on to a LX without buying VTEC.

I didn't finish, the easiest way to do it is to buy a H22 already equipped with VTEC. It will save a lot of head aches. There is this guy where I live who did do what you are talking about and he has to flip a toggle switch to get his VTEC to kick on in. Crazy huh?

this toggle switch idea sounds ridiculous. why not just do it the right way and get the new ecu?

There is only a 15hp difference between the LX and EX, so if you ask me, it aint worth the money and headache. Do the H22 swap, thats worth the money...

h22a head on an f23 block?

somebody tell me if I am off my rocker but isn't the h22a dohc and the f23 sohc? The head from the h22a wouldn't work with the f23 block. Oh well!

I don't mean to let the cat out of the bag but... instead of buying the ecu programed for the V-Tech and instead of the toggle switch, use a WOT 'wide open throttle ' like for N2O every time your foot goes to the floor the bumble bees of v-tech start doing there thang!!! its cheap too...

the WOT idea is great until you let off the gas at 7500 RPM's and you drop to the lower-profile cams effectively choking your motor to hell. you then get the idea to start going again, but instead of just going faster right away, you bog out because you dont have the right cams activated. you then have to wait for the pedal to be depressed all the way, and for the pin to be activated. ECU is still the best way of going about it, and its not that much more expensive than these half-ass ways of getting vtec to work.

i still want to know how you get the intracacies of the vtec to work when all you are doing is activating a solenoid. what happens to the new timing and fuel?

ok whoev said that they can buy the "VTEC" is a F-cking retart, if ukno nething about vtec, whenthe engine his a certain rpm, a extra set of rocker arms are activated which allows air and gas to flow in and out quicker, meaning more power,,, so u cant just put a vtect in a car you'd have to completely redesign, and rebuilt thecam shaft and timing systems, u may as well buy a new engine ( h22)

Who said anything about putting V-tech on a motor??? Someone said something about putting a sohc v-tech head on a motor!!!

Oh yeah, whats the difference in letting of the gas with a vtech engine with all the computer components and letting off the gas with a switch??
Nothing.... I know people who instead of paying all the money for a
v-tech controller they put it on a toggle..... when you let off the gas with a civic SI in v-tech the v-tech imediately stops working..... just like flipping a switch off..... I am not half a$$ I go with what works for me!!!

V-tech .... A irritating loud sound that makes you think you are going faster!!! :sun: :silly2:
