Some Questions from a Chevy Guy

Hey all...

Got this guy w/ a 95 300zx i know....had the NA motor in it....claimed that w/ a CAI, underdrive pully, and cat-back he ran 13.9. Always had an excuse on race night to not race me (such as he just washed it, LoL). Recently did a TT swap....Now claims 400whp and a sub 13 quarter mile....Any truth to this? what do these 2 setups really run? I assume that the TT motor has about the same mods as the NA, w/o talking to him too much for sake of annoyingness... I'm reading about 300HP and a 14.0 for the TT....that about right?

Thanks for any input u all have from the Z world!

Re: Some Questions from a Chevy Guy

ok, can u elaborate w/ a little fact to back that up? I'm reading 13.9-14.0 1/4 times..."he has u beat" sounds like a little more ricer banter....boasting w/o fact to back it up.

Re: Some Questions from a Chevy Guy

highly doubtful he ran a flat 14 with a mostly unmodified n/a.. however if he swapped to a tt it would be very easy for him to be putting down 400hp... so, if in fact he did the tt swap, added a full exhaust, intake and a reprogrammed computer with boost jets he will stick it to you with ease provided he's a decent driver.

the stock tt will run a 13.9 with a good driver.

Re: Some Questions from a Chevy Guy

Especially if he went with aftermarket turbo's, witch can be a bigger turbo and with the right exhaust and program . 14 sec .. np

Re: Some Questions from a Chevy Guy

LOL @ "cold air intake".

The stock intake setup draws air from infront of the radiator under that center nose panel, thus stock form on a Z32 utilizes a CAI setup.

I really doubt he did a 13.9 with an very lightly modified NA. As we see here:

http://z32racing.com/

Left side, go down to "All Motor NA".

non-turbo 300ZXs that are running that bracket have some fairly extensive modifications.

If his TT motor is anywhere near stock tell him you want to see his dyno for "400WHP". A lightly modded TT motor making 400hp at the crank? Sure, done all the time. Stock turbos even with a butt load of mods pushing 400RWHP? Possible but I really doubt his does.

Sounds like the guy is a jerkoff. Kick him really hard in the balls and hopefully you'll render him sterile and unable to reproduce.

Re: Some Questions from a Chevy Guy

that's what I was thinking....though other ppl seem to be jumping to conclusions....a 14 flat ISN'T gonna beat me. It is a mostly Stock TT, and I am afraid, that is he ever does get the nuts to race me, which I doubt, he's gonna get embarassed. Esp as someone that I doubt has ever drag raced w/ any level of experience.

Re: Some Questions from a Chevy Guy

The only way to really find out is to race him right? I mean, don't race for money, just for fun, and if he beats you, just pull a few of his spark plug wires while he's distracted... this guy sounds like a tool, and I hate people like that giving z's a bad name. Yes, long story short (as everyone has already said) 400 BHP is pretty easily attainable for a TT with stock turbos/fuel system. Just see if he'll race you, and if not, no big deal man, he's not worth your gas.

dude, it all depends on what he has done. i lightly modified TT can see 12's pretty easy.

also keep in mind if he did a TT swap, which means he has the stock 4.10 N/A rear end gear. which in other Z32 owners experience can drop a half second and more off the 1/4 mile time. which would mean that a completely stock TT motor in his car should easily be running mid 13's. if he can drive well, he could easily be running high 12's lightly modified. dont be surprised if he blows the doors off of anything running 14 seconds.

as for the N/A running sub 14's. possible but highly doubtful. it would have to be slicktop, perfectly driven, and a factory freak.
