what did I find?

So i'm under the car yesterday changing my oil and notice that there is some sort of cooler that is only like two inches high and runs the length of the radiator, all the way at the bottom. Is this a stock cooler, or an auxillary tranny/oil cooler? Its definitely stock, just not sure what runs through it. I'm hoping its for the transmission (AX4N) because it'd be wicked easy to add another trans cooler to that rather than up where the lines enter the main radiator. Anyone shed some light?

Oh, BTW, Walmart sells Supertech 5W30 FULL SYNTHETIC oil for like 13 bucks!! I know its a little thicker than the 5W20 reccomended, but its full synth, so its a little on the runny side anyways. Awesome bargain, and all the reviews online (www.bobistheoilguy.com) say its just about as good as Mobile 1, at half the price. Sounds to me like a 5000 mi. oil change interval to me (heck, I went 4400 on Motorcraft 5w20 and it was pretty clean still when it came out). Anyways, thanks for the help!

Re: what did I find?

Trace the lines back and see if it goes to the transmission or not.

Re: what did I find?

you should have two of those coolers one finned and one not finned.

One is a transmission cooler and one is a power steering cooler.

Which one is the finned cooler? I'm hoping thats the tranny OEM aux cooler, so I can patch into it for my trans cooler.

One is a straight tube

One has fins for cooling.

I believe the bigger hose goes to the tranny and the smaller one goes to the PS

If you pull the wrong one off it will drain your PS fluid and you probably need to change that anyway
