Re: 2001 GP GT ignition failure?
I apologize for bringing this thread back from the dead...
First of all, Bob, thanks for the UIM/LIM procedure....get 'er fixed Friday night. Now, I've got the 'dead tach' and 'trac off' sickness. I talked to a guy today that said it was probably the crank sensor...then I found this thread! lol I was told that there was a special tool to install the new sensor...maybe to properly align it? From the looks of your procedure, that is not the case. Can you verify that this is a pretty standard plug-n-play repair? Thanks! Jon |

![]() The crank sensor job is plug and play. The sensor is molded/designed to fit perfectly on the two studs on the engine block. All you have to do is set in on, hand tighten the nuts and torque to specs. I've done two CKPS jobs with the same procedure. The special tool needed is a harmonic balancer puller with the special bolts which is covered in that tech link procedure. 3 - 1/4" X 3" 28 NF (National Fine) screws for puller. SII 3800 CKPS Tech Procedure: Click here The older SI 3800 engines or earlier required a check of sensor to balancer clearance by checking the gap with feeler gauges or some fixture. I am going to move your post and mine to a new thread and separate it from this old one. Good luck!

Re: 2001 GP GT ignition failure?
Replaced the sensor in my wife's 97. Was no problem. Took all of about an hour.
