Re: ram air ?

Little to no difference. The air going into the intake might be a little bit cooler causing a small jump in HP. By small I mean 1 or 2 HP.

But my WS6(ram air) hood looks better than the non ram air hood.

Re: ram air ?

its true, it basically does nothing.. but its just like a cold air intake, gives you a small boost adn themore mods you do to it, the bigger the change will be..

the SS was the same as the ram air..
except SLP added springs, rear end, tires, etc for more performance..i BELIEVE the ramair transam (firehawk?) had the same..

Re: ram air ?

SLP put a rearend in the SS?? News to me.

The WS.6 is mostly an appearance package, but it does have a slightly less restrictive exhaust, a lower airbox for use with the hood, better handling, nicer wheels, and of course the hood.

Re: ram air ?

I thought the ram air hood was non-functional. I thought all trans-ams sucked up air from the bottom of the car. But I have seen ram-air configurations that people call 'WS7' that are actually ram air with the filter taking in air directly from the ram air hood. Something like this:

Re: ram air ?

im pretty sure the ram-air works...my SS works.. its more of a cold air intake then a ram-air tho.

Re: ram air ?

yeah the ram air hood is functional b/c there is a rubber piece all around the box that forms a seal to the hood, Atleast this is how my 96 ws6 is.

Re: ram air ?

The LS1 WS.6 doesn't seal 100% to the airbox.
But it is functional.
