learning about modding cars?

Hey, wasn't sure where to stick this thread but i believe it applies to street racing mostly.. because thats what i intend the mods to help in. Where can i learn about what i can mod in cars, intake exhaust, exhaust tips, turbos, what everything does, how much it helps, etc. ? I guess that means in general learning more about automotive internals in general.

Re: learning about modding cars?

I say start with a body kit. The fiberglass is much lighter than the stock plastic. Not to mention the handling that it will add. If you put some kind of adjustable wing on the back I dont think you will ever have a problem with traction. Good luck.

I agree totally with BlackGT2000 although I would also add stickers to that in order to up your totall HP and then some spinners which will help you cut through the Air and grass alote quicker giving you the ultimate street machine.

These guys are so full of shit...

Get muffler bearings for your specific car. Great low end torque pick up and helps upper end HP nicely. Outta the hole will be nice with them though.

Check out this website: http://www.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm

Gives you a basic idea of how a motor works. If you wish to learn more do a Google search on what it is you want to learn about.

Yeap. Then go with a carbon fiber chassis and rubber coated spark plugs. Works for me!

Re: learning about modding cars?

seriously? that's the advise? no wonder people come and go so fast...

but seriously, there's a book i'd recommend to you. "car hacks and mods for dummies" i kid you not, there's alot of great info in the book and i'm sure you can find it for less than 15 bucks (instead of buying a resister mod get the book)

that will definately show you the answers you seek
