2004 Brake Rotors

I am getting some noise from my front brakes. Upon examination of the rotor, it shows diagonal streaks across the rotor face. Can these rotors be junk after only 23 K? Would you suggest changing them out as a pair? Thanks in advance.

Re: 2004 Brake Rotors

Are they just "streaks" or are they more serious grooves or ridges in the face of the rotor? I can't image the factory pads and rotors would be shot after only so few miles but I suppose it could happen depending upon your style of driving. I would suggest that you pull both front wheels off and really take a close look at the streaks. If it appears to be just normal wear on the rotors, I would clean everything completely with break parts cleaner, put the wheels back on and try it. If there are truly grooves in the rotors then it soulds like theere's a problelm with the pads. If that's the case, you would definitely need to replace pads and rotors in pairs. I don't think these parts would be covered under the 3 yr / 36K miles warranty but if it gets to that, you might want to check.

Good luck;

Re: 2004 Brake Rotors

ps when you replace the rotors replace them as a pair and try new carbon pads. not metallic carbon . carbon try auto zone they have them the cost is around 35.00 stay away from metallic pads they tend to over heat the rotors.. do some research on the carbon pads. let my know how you make out. they work great on my 04 d..
