'96 3.3 GrandVoyagerSE ASD Error

The engine turns but will not start- no spark- I get a obd 42 (ASD) with the key codes, but put the meter to the asd relay and it checks out fine. The ASD socket in the PDC shows continuity between 30 and 87, but not between 30 and 87a-
Any thoughts on where I should be heading next to diagnose this problem are appreciated. I've recently replaced the rad fan assy and it's relay, cam and crank sensors, their errors are gone.

you should have continuity between 85 86 power at all times to 30 and power on 87 with the key on. also 86 ground 85 power with key on 87a should not be to anything

Thanks for the response- I'll check the socket again, then the harness, then the haynes schematics to see if I can diagnose with current conditions what exactly is failing downline, - I doubt there are any dead giveaways

Re: '96 3.3 GrandVoyagerSE ASD Error

at the socket for the asd relay I don't get any resistance readings between 85 and 86-
I also get no continuity between 30 and 87a
and I do get continuity between 30 and 87
Not being really into electrical I'm not sure if that's by design, - or if it's indicative of a particular sensor or path not charging the relay.
ultimately- can I diagnose whether its the pcm, cam sensor, or crank sensor by what's showing at the asd relay socket in the pdc. Any ideas?

While I don't have a fix for your problem, just wanted to mention something. If there is a possibilty of power being on a wire, don't try to check continuity on it with an ohmmeter/DVM without making sure there is no power there first. Otherwise it is possible to damage your meter or blow a fuse. I think the ASD relay is de-energized by the PCM if it does not receive the crankshaft position and cam position signals in the run position.
