Which hub/bearing is better

I replaced my bearing about a year ago and its already sounding like it did before I changed it. Im going to change it and get a front end alignment done in hopes I dont go threw this new one as fast.

Which is the better bearing.
Autozone has a timklen for $120
and I see an AC/Delco on ebay for $95

Which should I go with. Thanks again.

Re: Which hub/bearing is better

The Timken aftermarket is a good bearing as is BCA National.

I would go for the AC Delco for that cost. It is a steal. $75 plus $20 shipping. The AC Delcos are better than the original GM hubs used when the car was manufactured. Different companies make them for GM and AC Delco so you never know what you are going to get.

I only saw one advertised. If you don't want it then I may bid on it. I have one on the passenger side front just starting to make noise. Better hurry up.

Re: Which hub/bearing is better

Ok, thanks I grabbed it. I see another on ebay, not sure if its the same or not.

Should I get the front end aligned before or after I replace the bearing?

Thanks!

Re: Which hub/bearing is better

If you do the job right hopefully you will not need an alignment. The only time I get an alignment or even verify it is if the steering or something is not right after the work is done. You really won't be messing with any suspension or steering components like tie rods or the strut since it stays in place to do a hub job. Important thing is to make sure you torque the axle nut to GM specs (151 ft-lbs), the three hub bolts/nuts and torque the wheel lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs.

If you have problems getting the old hub to come off, just use an old axle nut on the end of the axle shaft and tap gently with a mallet or hammer. I wasted money one time renting a hub puller and didn't need it but you never know.

Good luck.

Re: Which hub/bearing is better

Ok great. I probably should have mentioned. I replaced a tie rod last year, and I did other side a few days ago. I was told I should get an alignment afterwards, but just never did.

Re: Which hub/bearing is better

If you replaced a tie rod then I would definitely go with the alignment after replacing the hub. Toe in/out is critical on an Alero and will determine how well the car tracks and handles. Good luck and let us know how the job works out.

Re: Which hub/bearing is better

Well over 2 weeks after the auction, the part finally arrived, gotta love ebay. All went smooth. 65ish for the tire alighment, they said they had to do all 4 wheels as they were all outa wack. Inner brake pads were worn almost to metal and outers looked brand new. The pins seemed to stick, so im gonna put some brake lube on em when i get some free time.

Thanks
