89 Suburban Coil Wiring

Thanks for checking out my post!

I found a wire to nowhere coming off of the coil on my 'Burban. I've only had the truck for a few weeks and am giving it a once over before a long trip. It does not have a standard HEI where the coil sits atop the distributor. The coil is mounted to the intake manifold, but looks stock. It has 5 wires coming from it: one to the distributor, and four coming from a plug attached to it on top in a 2x2 configuration. The two in front are white and the two in the rear are black. The front, drivers-side wire is white and goes nowhere but to a black connector that looks a bit melted and is dangling. I can only assume this is not good and since the truck runs is probably a tertiary ground. Any ideas?
