Depends on the subs you're using.

Re: Sealed or Ported Subs?

I was thinking about getting two JL audio subs probably 10's, i just dont know what would be best sealed or ported, ive been told that ported will sound better due to the size of my car, and ive also been told to go with sealed, so i'm a little confused, anyone got any advice?

Are you looking for "boom," or are you looking for tight, accurate bass?

In that that case, I'd recommend a sealed box. Ported boxes can hit lower tones, but are more prone to distortion. Sealed boxes don't get as loud, but as long as they are propoerly sealed, they hit tighter than a ported box.

Re: Sealed or Ported Subs?

If you want a little of both, just get a bandpass.

Re: Sealed or Ported Subs?

You can get away with a smaller amp if you get a ported box, but like you, I like tight bass.

Re: Sealed or Ported Subs?

you should make a 6th order bandpass. ...yeah. that'd be nice.

I thought it was the other way around... at least for volume, I thought you needed a bigger amp with a ported to achieve the same volume. Then again, I don't know much about car audio.

Re: Sealed or Ported Subs?

^you must be thinking box, not amp. you need a larger enclosure should you decide to go ported.
