random curiosity moment: Shaving

random question i've been thinking about in front of the mirror this morning:

face, legs, w/e, Do you people shave with or against the grain? I'm just curious.

I go against, i get a much closer shave that way. it's a lot more irritating, though. I know some of my friends go with it just for that reason alone.

Re: random curiosity moment: Shaving

I go with the grain, even though I get closer shave against. If I don't go with the grain my skin gets extremely irratated. Then I have to go 2 weeks without a shave and thats even worse then not having a SUPER close shave.

Re: random curiosity moment: Shaving

i go with the grain, against irritates the skin more and can cause acne (or at least make it worse). it doesn't actually irritate my skin all that much but i'd rather keep it acne free than have a super cose shave. for a special event r something like that i might shave against the grain if i know someone's going to be touching my face, but for every day stuff i just go with it, it's close enough for me.

Re: random curiosity moment: Shaving

i do both, firstly with the grain, then against it to get a closer shave.

then use some of that aftershave balm and there's no irritation.

I go against the grain but I use some nivea soft lotion on my face afterwards, works wonders for irritation.

Re: random curiosity moment: Shaving

Well, I don't shave my face, but I'll have my say anyway.

I go against the grain in most places and with the grain if my skin is super-sensitive in a spot. Luckily, unlike many guys, I don't need to shave my legs every day (since most people won't see them) so if I go against the grain in the first place, my shave lasts longer.

Re: random curiosity moment: Shaving

ok well since we're talking about other body parts. then i usually shave against the grain for my back, chest, and legs. mostly because it's a tedious job and i want to do it as infrequently as possible.......... just kidding :P

I go sideways to the grain...for some reason the facial hair under my chin goes side to side and I shave up and down.

Re: random curiosity moment: Shaving

I use a adjustable electric shaver.
I like to leave a bit of stubble, apparently it makes me look rugged.

But on the rare occasion I do break out the Mach 3, I go against the grain. It gives me a much closer and more even shave.

Re: random curiosity moment: Shaving

Always with the grain. Even if I use aftershave balm I still get ingrown hairs going against the grain (and sometimes even with).

Though I usually have some sort of facial hair thing going on at any given time.

Re: random curiosity moment: Shaving

I go with the grain, it gets smooth enough to make the ol lady happy and it doesnt irritate my skin. I used to use an electric razor but after you use them for a week they dont shave nearly as close as a blade.

Re: random curiosity moment: Shaving

It depends on what part of my face I'm shaving. If its close to my lips, i go with the grain to keep irritation down. If its on my cheeks or neck where the skin is tougher, I go against the grain for a smoother shave.

Re: random curiosity moment: Shaving

I have the 23 year old baby face so shaving isn't a problem issue for me. I just have to keep it trimed and shaped nicely. I use an electric edger and go against the grain on both moustache and beard (chin beard). The hair on my cheeks is easily kept in check with the edger.

As far as other body hair, for some reason my legs are furry as jack rabbits but my arms are basically bald. I don't understand how this hapened. And my legs are like two shades darker than my arms and face as well. I think my legs were adopted.
