Thanks! and Blinker Problem

Hey guys,

Wifes got a 97 blazer that recently just died. I found this forum and based on your posts I guessed it must be the ignition switch module. I got one from Advanced for $100, put it in and back on the road again. Thanks for your help.

2 questions:

1. I broke the red plastic hazard switch and the dealer wants $300 + for the entire blinker assembly. Is that correct? I pulled the broken one out but he claims you can't buy just the red push down plastic piece which I broke. Is the junk yard the only option?

2. For the past 2 years when the headlights are turned on the left blinker green arrow in the dash stays on constantly unless you turn the left blinker on and then it blinks propery. Hence the default position is constant on rather than off. With the headlights off the left blinker indicator arrow stays off unless the blinker is activated. The right side blinker green arrow works as it should with the headlight on or off. What's up with this? Any suggestions?

Thanks for the great assistance!!!!!

Re: Thanks! and Blinker Problem

Theres a recall on 2000-2002 on just that part of the harzard switch and it pulls out - ask the dealer if its the same switch and then yes they have it.

Sounds like the blinker is due to the multifunction switch in the column or the plastic return piece for the blinkers that shuts it off after a turn.

I don't know how hard it is to get to but if you can take that bulb out and replace it. Sometimes this works if it don't probably what happen is the circuit board is touching there for the inst lites and that signal lite.
