Hurst short shifter removal?

My leather knob on the short shifter is starting to wear off...(probably from years of sweaty palms as they downshift to avoid speed traps..) Ive been trying to figure out how to remove the shift knob but it doesnt want to twist of..is there a certain way i have to remove it? does it even come off?

Re: Hurst short shifter removal?

Loctite probably.
Considered using it on mine because I had issues with it getting loose on me.
Just needed to be tighter.

Glad you got it off.
