Runnin rich
Does anyone out there know why my 96 jetta smells so gasy. I replaced the spark plugs and wires, oil, and even added treatments. But nothing has helped. I have also noticed the car tries to die out now as well. Only when my ac is on and only if i'm at an idle. HELP ME!!!

Re: Runnin rich
oh by the way. It's a 5 speed, with regular up keep. And also now that it's been such a high fuel mix there is white smoke out of the exhaust and brown exhaust stains on the bumper. THANK YOU!

Re: Runnin rich
Has your coolant level remained constant? White smoke is often steam (coolant). If it's running rich, it should trigger errors on your OBD-II, such as fuel mixture rich, O2 analyzer errors...
Todays cars seldom run rich without triggering errors of some sort. Check your spark plugs for carbon buildup or deposits. |
