Power windows

In my '99 Cavalier when I want the windows up they sometimes only go part way, stop and then you have to keep trying until they are finally up. Then when you want them down you sometimes have the same problem getting them down. So, is this a motor problem or something else happening?

Its the window motor... eventually it will just quit.. most likely when you have it down with no way to get it back up.. and it will start to rain.

Cost me $225 CND at a shop to fix my drivers side that was doin that.

Definatley your motor going bad, like the other guy said is will probably fully stop working when your window is completly down like it did to me, and then it will start to rain lol So I would suggest replacing it asap if you need directions and pistures on how to do it just let me know and I will post them for you.

Oh btw you can get the motor from an Autozone if there is one near you, only cost me $65 for the motor.

It is the motor (just like everyone else said). im 100% sure. the same thing happened to my moms van.

Ok so are you going install it yourself or take it somewhere?? Like I said if you need pics and full in structions on how to do it let me know and I will post them for you.

Ok I take it you know how to remove the door panel right? But in case you dont here is instructions for that also. Oh and if you need any of the pics bigger just let me know.

Door Panels

1. Remove the upper trim finish panel.
2. Remove the door panel lower retaining screws.
3. Remove the door armrest retaining screws.
4. On the Cavalier front door only, remove the door trim clips at the sealing strip.
5. Disengage the door panel retaining clips using tool J-24595 or equivalent.

The door panel retaining clips can also be removed by carefully and gently pulling on the door panel to disengage them from the door.

1. Remove the door panel from the door.

Window regulator and motor

1. Remove the door panel and the water deflector.
2. Remove the door glass (window).
3. On front door regulators only, remove the regulator retaining bolts.
4. Using a 3/16 in. (5mm) drill bit, drill out the regulator attaching rivets.
5. Move the regulator rearward and disconnect the wiring harness from the motor, if so equipped. Disengage the roller on the regulator lift arm from the glass sash channel.
6. Remove the regulator and motor through the rear access hole.

To install:

1. If so equipped, attach the motor to the regulator using a rivet tool and 3/16 in. (5mm) rivets or 3/16 in. (5mm) nuts and bolts.
2. Place the regulator through the rear access hole into the door.
3. If an electric regulator is being installed, connect the wire connector to the motor prior to installing the regulator in the panel.
4. Locate the lift arm roller into the glass sash channel.
5. Using rivet tool J-29022 or equivalent, rivet the regulator to the door using 1/4 in. x 1/2 in. (6mm x 13mm) aluminum peel type rivets (part No. 9436175 or equivalent).
6. On the front door only, install the regulator retaining bolts
7. Replace the door window assembly.
8. Install the water deflector and the door panel.

Here in northern Illinois its been pretty damn cold also, one day it will be 30 degrees out and then the next day its back in the mid/high 50's............fuckin global warming

Give me about a month or two then I can tell you what the 50s feel like in the south lol. We still in the 60s and 70s!

alright, i am pretty sure that my motor isn't fucked, but my retarded friend pushed the driver side window button to roll it up so hard that the button is currently stuck and i can't get the window to move for the life of me. I took the button apart and still can't get it to come unstuck. Any body got any ideas how i could solve this problem. Thanks.
