Re: totalled!!!!!!!

Can't you just keep the check and drive it? Replace any glass as needed?

Re: totalled!!!!!!!

I know how you feel. Had a brand-new hood installed 3yrs ago after an accident. It has pretty good hail-damage that I've been working on removing slowly, looks much much better.

Obviously my damage doesn't compare to yours, but got to ask you, and believe me I understand that we all want our vehicles to look nice - I cried and cried when my hood got damaged, but why is it considered totalled due to hail damage?

Still runs great, right? Was it paid for?

Like I said, believe me, I'm all BIG on how my truck looks as well. I was upset last week when I spent 3hrs waxing mine and then it rained the next day - but, even if she sustained the most horrible of hailstorms, I'd still keep her and wouldn't be ashamed to drive it - she's never left me stranded and that's the important thing. Actually, my Rodeo's have been the cheapest running vehicles I've ever had.

Forgot to add: If it were me, got to tell you that unless it had broken windows, I wouldn't say a word to the Insurance company, hail damage is one of the worst things to report and your premiums will go up. Learned this the hard way after living in Colorado where hail is a VERY VERY common problem here.

You're going through all that work just so it can get beat up again by hail?

I dont think I've seen a vehicle thats been in colorado more then 3 yrs that didnt have hail damage. Mostly minor stuff though.

I spent a couple months getting my mitsu put back together and all the little scratches and dings fixed after it was totalled. The day after I got back from the paint shop it got beat to crap by 1-2" hail stones. I gave up caring at that point.

Re: totalled!!!!!!!

Yeah, it really gets aggravating doesn't it? That was the one exceptional reason why I did like living in the desert - didn't have to worry about hail, or snow for that matter.

Both the Rodeo and the Dodge Diesel have moving/heavy blankets permanently assigned to them now - whenever we feel hail is on the horizon, we cover their hoods as best we can.

I'm now down to just 4-5 spots of hail damage left on the hood, but may leave as is now, as they're only visible once you get right close down to the hood and tilt your head.
