CEL came on but goes off when I don't give it any gas PLEASE HELP!!!
Hello.I have a 94 Rodeo 5 spd and today my CEL came on while I was on the freeway. I stopped and got about 5 gallons of gas this morning on my way to work. After that, at first my voltage gauge was acting a little funny, like it wasn't getting a full charge, kept bouncing around between 10-14 volts which isn't too alarming but it worries me when it starts bouncing like that because I have gone through a few alternators this year already. Anyway, Then my CEL came on. It kept driving fine, no acceleration problems, As I started going down a hill I let my foot off the gas and went into neutral and the CEL went off, then when I put it back into gear and foot back on the gas, it came back on, it kept doing this. My guess is a bad Fuel Filter? But I don't know much about mechanics at all, so any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!! Last edited by lorigail79; 10-06-2006 at 04:41 PM. |

any codes? you can do this yourself easily; it's OBDI, not the OBDII that's more sophisticated and started iin 1996 models; in case you didn't know.
anyway -- any codes stored? also Quote:
buy *new from dealer, if available *rebuilt from dealer parts department *rebuilt by bosch my call is rebuilt by bosch because of good experiences along the way with different parts, different vehicles, and reasonable if not cheap prices. and yes, it could be the alternator again... in my experiece "warranted for life" means warranted to have you changing constantly for life. any other symptoms, etc? //bc
