Polizei 144 Ferrari 550 Maranello

This is a fun project i planned to do for quite awhile. I had 3 chioces to fix the livery on , 575M , 550M and Gallardo. After looking at all 3 kits , i felt that the 550M was the best fit as the front grill had 2 lights that could easily converted to police lights ( the ones with blue and red ). This car is based on the Gumball Rally Team , Team Polizei 144 with is headed by Alex. Aftering watching the Gumball Rally 3000 2006 , i thought that the design on the Bentley cont GT was really beautiful and fierce looking.
Heres the starting of the project with custom made decals.

The fitting has abit of problems so far during the prefix.. have to use abit of pressure to put it in place.

Pictures of the fitting problems... Front not as bad but it has to be glued slowly to make it fit. Test fit the wing as well to see how it looks like...

I need some help in choosing which rims i should use , Kindly leave your suggestions

I cant really choose for paint colours... So if u have any ideas im quite open to it. But I need more response so i can base my decision on afew opinions instead of just 1 or 2. Thanks!



Italian Red , Racing White , Pure White , Pearl White , Black , Gun Metal , Metallic Blue , Yellow

Im leaning towards the dark colours with Bright Orange or Yellow Decals.

Gunmetal would look cool as color for the Polizei-Ferrari. And I´d suggest the first wheels (they look like the ones from the Enzo??). But don´t paint them silver, make matt alloy-colorish...

Hey godfather .. been awhile man! Hows the original teile? still working on it?

I had a little fun with my rims.. here are two different tones. Metalizers on both but the base coat was different. I kinda like the first one as its a Black chrome look , maybe ill sand it down abit and use the metailzers again.


More suggestions PLEASE! XD

Hi, nice project you're attempting.

I'd choose the 1st or 2nd set - painted to match the white decals you have, should be a stunner (white w/ a little brake dust).

Update on brakes..

I felt that the standard 550M brakes are rubbish.. way to small for my liking and way too small for a Ferrari! So i took my extra set of brakes from the F430 and planned out how to fix them on the 550M.



Front brakes were trimmed and open up the fitting hole. As u can see the left is the original 550 part.. and the right is the modified part



Rear brakes had to be drilled so that it could fit into the molded in suspension system. Also i cut out open it to fix into the mold design





Test fit with the rims and body

I'm using the 575 brakes for me 575 Maranello.
Anyway 550 and 575 brakes are the same. Hope Fujimi do some changes for the SuperAmercia kit.

Alrighty... Today i finally got the decals template printed on paper for a test print... Heres the revised deisgn... Ill be adding more decals once i get the idea right.




Im thinking of Metallic blue / Mica blue or Gunmetal or Black for the body colour.

Yeah, I´m still on it. Not too much time these days for modeling...Thinking of making it a half open/split up model. Your project is growing fast. Looking very unique. So keep it coming. Every day, I turn my computer on, I see updates by you. Way to go.

Ok last update for awhile... until i get the body done right. Have to mask and make sure it doesnt leak.
Anyway heres the brakes done up with metalizers ... along with the rims!
