boxes

ok to do a fiberglass sub tub (the lower half) besides aluminum foil, can i use vaseline? thats what a local audio place told me, but i want to be extra careful, b/c once resin's on, well...its on. how much material wise should a box for 2 mtx 6k 10's and a 4250d amp run me? can i mount the amp on like a wooden platform eventually glassed into the top of the box? any pics of anyones boxes? need advice and suggestions b4 i start. i miss the boom.

Well, I wouldn't use just vaseline. I heard of someone using vaseline with plastic wrap. They coated the surface with vaseline, then layed the plastic wrap on top of it. The vaseline just kinda held the plastic wrap in place. However, I imagine it would be hell to clean up all that greasy schtuff. You should just use tinfoil and tape... that's probably your best bet.

Check out this site really good step by step with pictures:

Here's a pic of my sub box that I'm working on, although it isn't a "sub tub"...

Just Use Aluminum Foil It Works Very Will (remember to over lap the foil)

90civic...
dude thats pretty much how i want mine done except i dont want any wires on top like that and im gonna make the top as big as the back carpet area so its all one shape. i might have to make to smaller pieces so i can take it out again though. do you have any more pics on your install?? im doing this primarily to have room for a rear strut bar, but wouldnt the subs sound better at a 45 degree angle? if not that much difference ill just lay them flat. where are you putting your amp(s)? thats gonna end up nice though. man i need a digi cam so i can throw pics up easy like that. too $$
