Question need help

I bought a '95 Plymouth Neon Sport with SOHC 2.0 and about a week later I realized the back up lights didn't work. I replaced the bulbs and they still don't work. What could the problem be? I even checked the fuse and it didn't need to be changed. HELP!!

Re: need help

Your problem sounds to be a very easy thing.

Most older cars may face this issue but for different reasons. If you smell burning plastic or fire, then turn your car off as soon as possible because what happens is the wire gets unplugged and entangled in within the range of the heater causing it to heat up. If this is not the issue, maybe a blown fuse but normally it is the wires.

Check your wires, that is all I can say,
Jason

Re: need help

Alright, take a look at that. If its the back ones like you said, thats new to me. I have had a lot of old cars in my day but still ever since, it was always the front lights. The problem was always the wire or a burnt light, hopefully thats what happened to you, if not let me know and I will figure something out instead of you having to go to a car shop and spending a lot of money.

Hope it helps,
Jason

Re: need help

the safety neutural switch on the front of the trans controlls the feed to the back up lamps first check for volage at the lamp socket make sure key is on and shifter is in reverse and if you have voltage there and the bulbs are good then the ground terminal in the socket normally break or corrode in the socket this terminal is availlable at the dealer and is replaceable on this car
