89 blower problem
Well, I have an 89 Trofeo with a VIC and have a pretty serious problem. My blower doesn't turn on.
Orriginally, it would work when I turned the car on, but if I shut it off again, it wouldn't start back up for about 5-6 hours. So I swapped out the blower motor, and now it doesn't start at all. Going on the advice of someone else, I replaced the AC programmer, to no effect. Recently, I pulled out my multimeter and started running some tests, there is power going to the fan, but only 1.62 volts, as apposed to the 14 it's supposed to have. I really need to get this solved before winter, I don't want to be driving my El Camino through the snow.. Any help would be greatly appriciated. |

Re: 89 blower problem
Alright... back to square one...
I pulled a replacement from a scrap yard and installed it, the power read at 14 volts for about 30 seconds, then went down to 1.52 again, it does this everytime I start the car... and the blower never turns on... |

Re: 89 blower problem
A bad blower motor or poor grounds can cause this also.

Re: 89 blower problem
Check your BCM for codes. Sounds like there is another issue...

Re: 89 blower problem
DTC B111= High side temp sensor circuit problem (check the data)
DTC B552= Keep alive memory error (normal for batt disconnect) DTC B553= No such code. I would go after the high side temp sensor ckt. It might be keeping the system from functioning at all. Hope this helps... |

And the B111 seemed to be a division of codes, not a code itself, it wasn't labeled like the other ones... of course, I don't know much about it, just using logic... (but what about this car is logical?) But, what can I do about a the temp sensor? I have no idea where that is... much less it's function... |

Re: 89 blower problem
Well, I just pulled the blower motor and hooked it up to my el camino, it started right away, so the motor is good.
