2002 Grand Am Wont Start Need Help!

Im having trouble with my car. I recently just had new brake pads and a few other repairs done but nothing having to do with the engine or anything. Today I go to start up my grand am and it wont start. It sounds like its going to turn over but it wont. I also hear a noise that sounds like something is trying to run but dosnt. Its hard to explain but you hear a little machine noise. Anyways the check engine light comes on and right now im trying the secruity lock trick and see if thats the problem.

Any solutions or ideas? thanks

Update After waiting with the key in the car for the 10 mins, i tried to start it once agian and now Im getting not even the engine to start and try to turn over, its just beeps and you can hear a little stutter or kinda of a small pop sound if you keep trying to turn it over

that sounds like the fuel pump, it runs for five seconds anytime you turn the key to on to prime the fuel system. Your problem sounds like a dead battery..
