How the #@%*&!!!
Hey y'all,
Just recently bought a 2000 Passport LX. More power than I expected out of it(Believe me, I'm getting in this thing after letting go of a 2000 Trans Am WS6), and it's more suited to our lifestyle. I just have one small question... how the #@%*& do you flip up the rear seats?!?!?!?! There's these two little straps on the sides coming out from under the seats, but I'm afraid if I pull any harder on them, I'll tear them out and really be screwed. HELP!!!

Re: How the #@%*&!!!
Pull them both at the sametime up. This is release the seat and flip it up at the sametime.

Re: How the #@%*&!!!
I had the same problem with my 99 Rodeo. I took a metal bar (or wrench) and inserted it into the loop and pulled on it really hard. For some reason, the latches seem to jam up on it making it hard to pull with your bare hands. Give it a try, I'm pretty sure you have the same problem I didn.

Re: How the #@%*&!!!
dont pull it straight up pull up and to the door you are standing in if that dont work you will need to use the metal bar method that Isuzukid2 described
normally when they get stuck like that it is because there is something under the seat |

Put pressure toward the back of the cushion, then pull. Helps me.

Re: How the #@%*&!!!
I figured it out. Y'all are gonna think I'm we-todd-t-tod-de-tod-did, but I was pulling the wrong strap. There was a couple of straps hanging out from underneath the outer sides of the seats, apparently the ones that hold the backs in place. After rooting around in there where the seat belts come out, I finally found the release straps, pulled them, and the seats work like a charm.
By the way, I've looked at the rear axle from behind, and it looks strikingly similar to a Dana 44. Anyone know for sure what it is? |

Re: How the #@%*&!!!
D44 it is! You may have trouble convincing many parts guys, but it is. Wish I had it on my Jeep. It's got the 35 with 3.07 gears.

Re: How the #@%*&!!!
AWESOME. One less thing to worry about.
I hear ya on the D35, man. I have an '85 CJ7 with the AMC 20... better than the D35, but mine's gonna need trussing before it's all said and done. |

Re: How the #@%*&!!!
Actually a modified D44, but yes it is one.
The rodeo/passport/amigo version apparently has a much beefier pinion gear. Also it has a toothed ring next to the ring gear for the ABS sensor. Surprisingly I didnt get any argument from napa with the last cover gasket I bought (unlike the first time). Had a bit of trouble finding the right part number though, finally remembered to look at a mid 70's waggy front axle.

Re: How the #@%*&!!!
So uhh, this modified D44... What's modified about it? Could I still order a TrueTrac limited-slip differential for a regular handy-dandy D44 and it actually fit in this one?
