Odd Problem
Alright, i checked a few serches and such and have a potential lead on what might be causing this now but thought i would post and ask just to get the ball rolling. And just in case I don't know a whole lot about cars except the difference between an NA and a Turbo, and I can now drive a Manual.
Problem 1: Sometimes I am driving along and all of a sudden all the lights come on and engine just cuts out. Not a sputter or stall just goes out. Most of the time (in fact all but untill a week ago) i would coast to a stop, restart car and gtg. Problem2: After driving for a while (usually at least an hour or more) if I stop and turn off the car I can not get it to start. No turning over, battery fine, lights work, radio, electrical seems to be good from my point of view. But nothing happens, no clicking nothing even. Problem2 has been happening more frequently (used to be maybe once a month or more it did this, now its every few weeks). However nifty little thing. If I let it sit for an hour.....starts up great! no problems. None at all even. Recently i had problem 1 and 2 happen within a few blocks of work and that help to prompt this post. Interesting facts, i have taken this to a trusted mechanic a few times and they can find nothing wrong. There was some stuff around the battery contacts that they cleaned up but it still happened after that. I have been trying to keep track of details when it happens and usually 1 will happen when im pressing the clutch. Problem 2....just sometimes happens nothing noticable. I did come up with a "Zanny" idea though, I have a fuel cutoff key that (No idea if that is the technical term) has a blue and black wire comming from it that run along behind the cluch, i did notice that the blue wire seemed to hang really low and was loose (I did mention this to the mechanics I know) now if the signal from the key is being cut off then the car wont even start or turn over right. I took out the fuel key just to see and when i tried to start it, yup no turn over on the ignition, lights come on everythign looks fine. But if it has something to do with the Blue and Black wires, why would after an hour (timed that twice btw) it just starts up. Its a 200 Ford Focus Manual transmission, great shape never had problems except this. Oh yeah interesting note.....i got no tachometer in it.....dont laugh to hard. This is my first manual car so if I am just being stupid about something let me know. Questions go ahead an post be more than happy to work through this. Thanks btw if u actually read this. Kurai PS pardon my horrible english skillz |

Re: Odd Problem
The theft light....hmm i don't seem to recall seeing a theft light on my dash board (hey im not always 100 percent aware of things) so I could have missed it. I will double check today if and where I have it and see if I remeber it being on when I try to start it with the problem. However right now i would say the lights that DO come on during the problem are the ones that normally come on during a startup (so just abotu everything). Once it turnsover and starts, .... light status is normal. Hope that helps!
I dont feel to bad not having a tach, its just odd from what I am told, i am not really sure if I am under utilizing the engine and such when driving. once again thanks all! Kurai |
