Wiring AFC to monitor knock

If I have the diagram(http://www.v8eaters.com/modules.php?...ories=1G+DSM#3)
Can I wire the AFC to monitor knock?

Will it accurately monitor the knock?

No, the AFC will not monitor knock in our cars.

Re: Wiring AFC to monitor knock

I have mine wired up so it gives me a reading.
But I doubt its accurate. However I did notice that when I put in 94 octane my knock was lowered under boost. Maybe its reading a voltage of something completely wrong but whatever I get a reading for knock. I wired like the purple wire to like my knock sensor wire or something like that.

Wait... isnt it bad to do the purple wire mod? I think I read somewhere that is said that. I will see if I can find it.

Re: Wiring AFC to monitor knock

what I don't understand is, the only wires I have hooked up for my car are the power, accessory... and the two signal wires... I think
I never hooked up the wire for the knock(I dind't even do the blue wire mod, b/c I have an A/F guage)... but it's reading knock...
I even set a warning for the knock, and every now and then it will go off...

I've been trying to keep an eye on it, b/c every now and then the car will buck... and I was trying to see if it was showing knock then (meaning the car would yank timing)...

the AFC shows no knock when the cars off... and the knock is constantly moving... so Idk...

Not purple wire mod... blue wire mod we're not supposed to do.

And why not?... I have seen this done on many cars...

Also, just for the record... You can also wire up one of your dummy lights to flash everytime it gets a count of knock. Can't tell ya how your supposed to wire it up but I have seen this done as well...

"The blue wire mod allows you to plug the O2 Sensor output wire into a spare input on the SAFC, so that you can read the O2 volatge through the SAFC's diagnostics screen.

The answer of how to do it, would be "don't." This mod changes the O2 signal that reaches the ECU, and makes fuel trims all whacky. There is no reason you need to view the O2 voltage anyway." - kpt4321

Sorry its going off topic because its not the purple wire.

Oh yeah, from doing some research I found that the purple wire is useless.

Re: Wiring AFC to monitor knock

Here guys I know how to do it.

How to: wire the AFC for knock. Disconnect and dispose of the POS AFC and invest in DSM link.

Which purple and blue wires are you all talking about?

N/T can't use DSMLink

And no, I'm not buying a 4g63 because of that.

Re: Wiring AFC to monitor knock

Sounds like a perfectly good reason to me .
