Will a 1993 metro manual trans swap into a 1996 metro with man trans?

Re: Man trans swap

taxidermist;
It'll fit just fine. There's lots of information in this forum that you can access by using the search function. Like all searches its dependent on what key words are entered but I think you'll find it informative reading just the same. I'm in the middle of replacing the 5 speed in my 94 right now. Good luck on your swap!

it may fit just fine but gearing will probably be different. the 89-94 metros have 3 different ratios, the xfi is 3.89, the normal one is 4.10 and the convertible is 4.39. if yours is 3 cyl with 13" tires its 4.39, if its 4 cyl gearing may be as high as 3.50

Re: Man trans swap

there is a transmission code on the drivers door sticker that will tell you what it is, with the code you can call the dealer to find out the ratio or go to teamswift.net. someone there had it posted a while back
