1995 Passat DTCs

How do you retrieve DTCs from a 95 Passat OBDI VR? I tried jumping Pin 15 to pin 4 on the 16pin DLC to the right of the steering wheel. Waited 5 secs with the IGN on. Before that I tried an Actron and a Snap On scanner. No luck. How about the DLC behind the center console? Want to get this MIL off.

-Ty Bill. Also I have some pics to post for a sunroof drain cleaning and I wanted to know if it was possible to post them on here like you can on Vortex

Apparantly you jumper pin 4 (gnd) to pin 15 (hot) on the obd connector for like 5 seconds or something like that...well my retarded car wasnt responding like it was supposed to...then i checked my bentley for a wiring diagram and I found that the yellow wire in the brown plug in the multiconnector under the center console should be continuous with pin 15. It wasnt so that solved the problem with why it wasnt working... so what I did was took a legnth of wire and grounded on one of the struts for the dash support. started the car... connected the yellow wire from the connector to the ground wire I made for 5 sec then disconnected.. it works. it took so long for me to figure this one out because I was afraid of frying the ecu but the MIL was driving me up a wall.
