A few days ago,my 94 astro started pausing on take off.Today I took it up town and it was running rough and blowing black smoke from tail pipe.I shut it off at the store and after a few minutes I came out to go home and it would not start!!I waited a while and tried agian.I put the pedal to the floor and turned it over and it started with lots of black smoke from exaust pipe.I had to two foot drive it home to keep it running...smoking all the way!!Could use a little help PLEASE!!

Re: 94 astro blowing back smoke
Got the manual. It was informative...but not a cure.I took it to a local garage to have it scanned...$37.50.Turned out it was the coolant temperature sensor....$40.00 for the premieum one.The engine kept thinking it was like -40 causing the choke to stay on.Very easy to replace myself.Took 15 min.Started it up and after it cleared itself out(more black smoke)it ran fine and continues to do so!!Problem solved!!
