Re: Buying a 2007 Eclipse GT

Heres my personal insight on the car.

In what, 2005, GM introduced a price drop on all the MSRP's of their cars.

People, naturally being the cheap asses they are, almost shit their pants and everyone went out and bought a fucking chevy.

Now chevy is a good company, but compare an Impala now, with one from 1990.

They feel cheap.

Ok now on to the Eclipse.

Recently car makers figured out how to save money. PLASTIC. Nasty fucking word. Why make the doors out of metal when you can save 1/3 and make 'em plastic?

Ok, I have a 2001 GS and it feels pretty soild. I also have a 99 RS and the same, its pretty well built.

I was going to go buy a 2006 so I could have a 2G, 3G, and now 4G. (Then buy a 1G later.) Until I test drove a 2006 GT. I shut the fucking door and it sounded like a fucking Barbie Dream Corvette. It felt cheap as hell. Yeah Recaro leather is nice, and so it the wussy-ass 420 watt sub they threy inside of the back-bitch-seat. But it felt like SHIT.

So I guess what I am getting at is go buy a fucking 2005 GT-S instead. You could probably buy 2 fucking 200#'s for the price of the 2006/7 peices of shit.

Honestly. Go buy something like a 2003 GTS and spent 15,000 on it in MODS instead of buying a damn-near stock 2007.

Think about it..

Nice, but for a price, and their peices of shits.

Plus the engine size isnt really that great. Theres studies out about the output of an engine and the size of the engine, top speeds, torgque and RPS's and certian combonations dont mix.

The insurance rating from 1-6 (6 being BMW's, Land Rovers, Other expansive cars to fix, ETC) An eclipse is rated a 5.9 meaning expensive repairs after your 3 year 36,000 mile warranty dies a horrible death.

Im done.

Re: Buying a 2007 Eclipse GT

I've never driven one and havent read or heard about any major problems with them. But I did look and played around inside of one for a couple hours while buying my 2000 GT lol. If I had the $$ I would get one, I think they are awesome. Check out a 2006 SE if you can come across one they are sick!!

Re: Buying a 2007 Eclipse GT

I have talked one person who owns a 2006 Eclipse. They love and say its pretty quick for as heavy as they are and have heard the same from some other AF members. As for a 1g DSM being solid....well from what I have seen 1st hand and from hearing from numerous others, they are about as solid as a 90 year old lady with osteoporosis.

I also hear alot of the new Eclipse have that positronic shifting in this it sounds like more crap to tear up on you and it would cost out the ass to get it fixed.Other than that the 07 Eclipse does look pretty cool but I would rather go with a 04 or 05 model instead they are alot more sturdier it seems.

Re: Buying a 2007 Eclipse GT

1/4 time was around 14.4 at ~100mph

serious traction issues, 0-60 was something less than 7 but not lower than 6...

and if anyone thinks that any eclipse WASNT cheaply made is full of it. the 2g's were worse than the 3g's and none of them are really any good as far as interior's go. the only thing i like about my cars is what's under the hood even if it isn't that impressive it goes somewhere.

the 4g eclipse is a land whale... if you want to save the dying species, get one. otherwise get an evo at 500lbs lighter with 2 extra doors
