92 S10 Blazer 4.3L Upper Radiator Hose Getting Cut

Ok, I know this may sound strange but here goes.

Night before last my son calls and tells me that the upper radiator hose is leaking on his 92 S10 Blazer 4.3L. No big deal, we go to the auto parts store, purchase a new upper hose, being sure to match it up with the old one.

Well this morning when he arrives at school the new hose is leaking! We just got in from looking at it and the alternator is CUTTING the hose!!

It seems that when the hose gets hot it is sagging and the alternator is hitting against it and cutting it.

Any suggestions?

Get you some of the wider zip ties and attach it away from the alt but be sure not to pull the zip tie to tight as to close off the water flow in the rad hose.

Check your motor mounts!!. A broken motor mount will allow the engine to move. The other end of the hose is fixed to the radiator so it will buckle and sag when the engine moves.
