Over heating problem / lumia 97, eng 3100

The problem started with a leak on the upper side of the engine -passenger side-, so I change the water pump.

After 1 week I noticed a leak from the upper side of the engine –driver side-, so used a radiator cleaner, used a stop leak – the black stuff- and I changed the coolant. The leak stopped so far but I’m facing an over heating problem and here is the details:

- after driving for 50 60 miles whenever I slow down the temperature goes up, to bring it down I have to either speed up or if Am stopped I have to keep pressing on the gas.
- If I keep using the car for longer I lose the heat (it just blows cold air) and the temperature goes up above 125 with the ENGINE HOT on.
- So I pull over, shut the engine off, I notice bubbles on my coolant and the level is all the way to the top.
- So I will have to wait for 10 – 20 minutes in order for it to goes back to normal.
- As soon as I start again the temperature goes down and I smell coolant with a foggy windshield some times.

What I was told:

- My mechanic was talking about intake gasket (I hope NOT).
- Another one was telling me it’s an airlock.
- And as far as I think it’s the heater core.

Can somebody tell me what’s the best way to find out about the problem, and how to deal with the air lock problem.

I appreciate your time J

Smelling coolant and foggy windows indicates a heater core leak.

The driver's side upper engine leak is an intake gasket going, and the stop leak is a temporary fix at best. The design of that gasket cannot be sealed with stop-leak products, as it is plastic/rubber and splits. Eventually, it will start leaking again. It sounds like you've got some fun in front of you.
