Need Help, Engine Missing and power window will not work

Problem 1

I know this is an Intrigue site but you guys seem to come up with great ideas and solutions. I have 2 problems with my 1997 Pontiac Grand-Am GT 3.1 L. The engine misses big time at idle, when I run the engine over 2000rpm it seems to be running smooth BUT the engine lite flashes it appears the smooth running is just an illusion.
I did the following to correct the problem
1) replaced the plugs
2) replaced the wires
3) checked all vacume lines and all connectors everything seem ok
Any Ideas

Problem 2

The drivers power window is dead it will not go up or down, it stoped just 1 inch from the top, is ther a way I of closing the window manualy.

Your post has been moved to Olds GM N Body Problem Diagnosis. Intrigue posts only.

Fuel injectors are common causes of misfire on the GM 3.1L V6.

This does sound like an injector problem Rolm.
Could also be a parcially pluged fuel filter.

How many miles is on your 3.1 ?

Take it somewhere to get the codes read, I see on your profile you liv in Canada.
Dont know what available there though.

If nothing else try changing your fuel filter and run some Lucas oil injetor cleaner through it and see if it clears up.

Forgot #2

Remove your window buttons and test the leads for power with a multimeter or a test light. Sometimes the buttons get debrie in them and they wont work.

And sometimes the motor die or the clip that holds the glass in place breaks. If you hav power , your best bet is to remove the door panel and investigate whats going on.

Several things could be the culprit, and without opening it up you cant "just tell" .

Lets us know what you find !
