Re: new engine?

there are so many options and opinions out there. you need to figure out what your trying to get out of it, then do the research to find the engine that fits your needs.

Re: new engine?

If you want to upgrade, the only way to really go is for either the B16 (1.6L) or B18(1.8) engine. Either will cost around $2,000 - $4,000 to buy, plus the cost of installation. Also, you will probably need to change the rear brake system to handle the added power, around $600-800.

These prices are just estimates though, do A LOT of research first before buying anything.

Re: new engine?

forget about the rear brakes. just upgrade the fronts. you'll be fine woth the stock drums in the rear.

Re: new engine?

handle the power??

i've seen suv's with drums in the back, im sure a 2200 lb civic will be just fine with the two disks up front, unless you will be auto-xing or some other sort of racing where the few gains you will have from a rear disk system will actually improve anything, but as for the swap, i'd go for the b18c1 (gsr) engine, because it can handle boost better than the type r swap, plus you will have some crazy vtec. =D

Yes, and since when does an SUV have good stopping power? But anyways, I retract my previous statement and say just upgrade the front brakes, espically if you consider boosting it.
