1994 Chevy c1500 questions
new to the truck, not new to chevy. howdy forum! anyway, ok, got a handful of questions to ask.
1. What is the difference between the c and k series? 2. What is the best way to tell the difference between a 305 and 350 in these trucks? (it sounds clear as day like a 350 and looks and acts like one, but that nagging feeling in the back of my head says it may be a 305.) 3. Anyone know if someone sells an aftermarket breather for our 2 prong throttle bodies instead of the standard aftermarket 1 prong carb? (wanna do away with the extra weight and the restricted snorkle.) 4. What size speakers do we have a) in dash b) in door c) near our heads? 5. I want to bump up the horsepower quite a bit. How much horsepower could one expect to gain by bolting on some 1 5/8 primary shorty headers into the y pipe, and getting a high flow cat and flowmaster 3inch catback? 6. Anyone know the stock cam size in these trucks? more to come, dont want to blow up 1 thread to the point of TLDR ty all for the time

Re: 1994 Chevy c1500 questions
c is 2wd-k is 4wd
sticker on core support 5.7 or 5.0 shortie headers and a cat back will not be any earth shattering HP increase. you will spend some money on your HP increases to catch up with the vortec engine. |

Re: 1994 Chevy c1500 questions
ill take a closer look at that TB, i hope your right lol, if u are i am going shopping tomorrow for one. side note, i bought an edlebrock show breather 14inch about a year ago for my 84 camaro, and it didnt come with the metal thread mounting piece... at least i dont think it did. in that black sound deafening box the snorkle is attached too, does it have any sensors or anything that are supposed to be plugged into it? (when i bought the truck someone fried the wires in it pretty bad so i had to terminate a ton of wires, didnt see one there originally but hey, coulda been one there and i didnt know about it.)

Re: 1994 Chevy c1500 questions
also on the breather, my TB doesnt have a hole for a center mount air cleaner. is there an adapter or something to make this possible? outside drilling holes in the top of the breather and making it look like a cheap patch or something im stumped.

BPH: Look at your VIN 8th digit on a car, might also be on a truck - if the engine identifier is "E" you have a 305, if it's "7" you have a 350. Of course, I could be, and most likely am, wrong here so take what I say with a grain of salt. And some castor oil for good measure.

Re: 1994 Chevy c1500 questions
I came up with H for a 305 and K for a 350 on the 8 th digit on the VIN #.

Re: 1994 Chevy c1500 questions
If u want to bolt on some serious power for about $750 buy a pair of vortec heads and the intake tha allows u to use the tbi with the vortec heads and that will give u about 75 hp over the stock output on the tbi. I did it to mine. I had a 1993 single cab stepside with a 1990 3/4 ton motor which had the 4 bolt main and we rebuilt it to be a stroker with an rv cam with vortec heads and , custom burned prom chip, headers, true duals with no cats with flowmasters, dynoed at 464 hp and 503 ft lbs of torque, the motor makes serious power it had a few more mods too, i was outrunning camaro ss mustang gt and about any other stock sports car it was extremely powerful and extremely fast the acceleration wasa neck snapping and it ran great with a heavy duty built 700 r4 with a shift kit. The truck is amazing i wouldnt trade it for anything. hope to help
