Was I just being a Jerk?

Yesterday I took a drive to Yellowstone. It was an amazing experience and I saw lots of beautiful things. The ride home consisted of 65 MPH single road 2 lane traveling. Every once and a while it would give eather side an extra lane for passing. I was already speeding and for some reason a bunch of cars wanted to pass me. I let a few on them pass me untill a saw something that "LOOKED" worthy of laying on the accelerator for. I was driving my almost stock 99 Maxima with my 300 Pound father in law in the front seat, and wife and child in the back when what looked like a Suburu WRX started to get closer to pass. I gave it a little gas to see how bad he really wanted to pass me and I heard his engine drop and hit high RPM. I gave it a lot more, but not enough to drop, as my wife would have yelled at me for racing, but just enough to stay ahead of him until the passing lane ended. I felt good, my father in law just shook his head and smiled. He passed me later on just normal 2 lane and I felt let down and disipointed when I saw he only had a RS that looked like a WRX, which explained why he didn't get by me.

So, was I just being a jerk not letting him pass me? I dont get much racing of any kind where I live so it gave me the rush I was looking for, knowing that I beat him to the punch.

Being a jerk...nah.

Wasn't much, but it gave you a slight rush. Well, whenever you can get one, the I'd say go for it. Although, if the wife, kids, or anyone else is with you, don't endanger them. Make sure it's just you.

What model Maxima do you own? GXE, SE? Well, start throwing some basic mods in there to open up that engine. I'm sure you'll notice the difference.

Just for the record I would never risk the lives of the people in my car. We got up to about 78 MPH. Any faster and I would have backed off.

I've got a SE. Currently I'm working on a custom intake for it to replace the ribbed piping.

If your car was faster and you planned on driving faster than him...no. If you slowed him down in the long run...yes. I absolutely hate people that accelrate to 75 to keep me behind them...only to go back to 45 the second the road goes down to a single lane or they pull up next to an 18 wheeler.

Bassasasin...you do know this is the street racing section...correct? If you have a problem with people accelerating on roads against another car...perhaps this isn't the section for you.

it really depends. in some cases you would be an asshole, but some you wouldnt.

I would say u were being an asshole...maybe the guy was in a rush and wanted to pass u to see his dying father in okinawa

in all seriousness, i hate ppl like you. if you wanna race, then race...what's this putting on a little gas till the overttaking lane ends bullshit. if i was having a bad day i woulda overtaken u and then slowed down to a crawl and every time u tried to pass me i woulda sped up...

so in short: yes, yes you were :-D

He didn't even break 80 MPH so stuff it. I drive 80 MPH on the freeway every day. Besides, this is the Street Racing forum. If you don't like it don't post here.

Man, if you slowed down after passing him then I would say yes.

After talking to you the other night I take that back. I don't think you were a jerk since he was able to pass a few seconds later.

The guy didn’t want to race you he just wanted to pass. A based Impreza can do a lot more then 78 mph the reason you “won” is because the guy didn’t want to race.
