Exclamation Ebrakes save lives...

So I'm cruising home from church this morning and I'm on this road doin 55 following a cadillac. All of a sudden some crazy bitch comes left of center head on with us and whips it next to her mailbox taking up over half our lane. First of all, this bitch is completely and utterly f*cking psychotic for attempting this with a mere f*cking 25 feet before we got to her. In the moment of panic both and cadillac and I slammed on our brakes. The cadillac almost came to a complete stop pretty fast. But as soon as I slammed my foot onto my brakes the pedal went to the floor, the brake light came on and I lost no speed at all. In a last moment effort to save my life from rear ending this lady doing 55 or hitting the next car head on I yanked the ebrake as hard as I could and prayed it would be enough to stop me. It wasn't... It slowed me down enough that the next car barely got past and I whipped it into the other lane missing the next car and the corner of the cadillac by maybe a foot at the most. I can honestly say it was the scariest experience I've ever had in my life. The moral of the story is to make sure your ebrake works and is properly adjusted even if you drive an automatic. You never know when it'll save your life...

Re: Ebrakes save lives...

Damn, you got really lucky. Im sure most people would just panic and not think about the ebrake. So what is wrong with your brakes? Maybe you should worry about making sure those work along with the ebrake.

Re: Ebrakes save lives...

Yeah I hear ya. That sucks. Lucky you're ok.

Once on the expressway I was driving in heavy traffic. All stop and go. I was talking and wasn't paying attention bc i was going like 10 mph. The next thing I know my passenger pulls the hand brake and the car comes to a complete stop very quicly. I look out the front window, bc I wasn't at the time, and I was an inch from the car in front of me. Would have been a very slow hit, but it would've probably taken off one of our bumpers. Passenger was like, "umm, you want to pay attention?" Not as bad of a story, but the handbrake is good to have.

Damn it seems like you have problems every sunday on your way back from church, like a couple weeks ago when that guy punched the side of your car as you past him. Speaking of, did you ever find that dude.

Glad your alright man.

Well once I got up past all that and calmed down I stopped in a parking and got under the car. Sure enough, the rear brake lines were so rusted that they blew out with the amount of pressure from trying to stop so quick. Now the whole system has nothing in it and EVERYTHING is gonna need bled again.

I figure I might as well replace the whole line though instead of just repairing that section to only have another section blow out next week or something.

Re: Ebrakes save lives...

i run brake lines all the time, they arent that bad. you just pray the fittings come loose so you dont have to buy EVERYTHING. such as wheel cylinders, hoses, lines fittings... its easy when you have the flare tool also, which you may not have but im sure you can find one..

Shit I wish I could. Was at work at 11 today was supposed to be out at 2. Some Douche doesn't show up to work and suddenly I have to close now. It's ok because this is my first day on the floor and I'm making mad commission right now.

11 eh? That sounds a lot better than getting up at 5am for work.
