97 passat not starting

Ok got a 97 passat and it worked great but after seeing if the stereo was hardwired or with a harness i took everything out and put it all back in together now the car wont start, just clicks like the battery is dead, so i charged that. Only thing i can think of is that the started fried for some reason. Please help out!!
