Ferrari FXX - Tamiya + Hiro transkit

Hi

With the risk of not finishing yet another project I have put the pressure on myself with this 'little' project.

Basically it is the exellent Tamiya Enzo kit with the equally exellent Hiro (E.Jan) transkit. As can be seen form the pictures a lot of the Tamiya parts are to be placed in the 'partsbin' afterwards as Hiro supplies an entirely new floor, cockpit walls, seats, crashstructure (not fitted in pictures), engine, dashboard etc. in whit metal. The only parts of the body to be used in the kit is the doors and rearwheel/ coolerintakes below the enginecover. The rest is in some of the finest resin castings I ever seen. Just as thin as the Tamiya parts and most importantly without the usual shrinking present in other transkits. They are EXACTLY the same size...

The discbrakes are photoetched, while the calipers are white metal. And yes I know they are supposed to be black - but on such a car they should be red IMHO! The hubs for the brakes are turned aluminium which has the nicest working nuts I have ever seen.

The wheels are casts from the kit, but in reality I think the kit wheels are nicer looking. Just need a hole for the axle. No problem. I have also used the kit engine as I couldn't find any difference from the cast parts in the transkit?

This is not a cheap transkit - but the contents are 100% exellent. I guess sales will drop to a standstill with the arrival of the newly announced Tamiya kit. I just wish someone could release the discbrakes as a separate update kit, as these parts really looks the part.

Furter updates will be infrequent - but this is a start. I'm still unsure of which bodycolour I will choose. Red looks too ordinary - yellow? Hmmm! Black..???

Kit looks good and clean... The metal parts come with good detail as well.. my only hope is that the tamiya kit is just as good.. if not better !

Re: Ferrari FXX - Tamiya + Hiro transkit

Looks like a great start Flemming. I will be watching this build. I was about to order the transkit when Tamiya announced thier kit. Nice to see someone actually building it instead of just collecting it. Does the kit weigh alot with all that metal in it?

Mike.

Great start Flemming, I like a lot your way to show how the MFH parts are matching the Tamiya kit !!!

Looking forward for the next step.

Hi

Thanks

The black one looks MEAN! :-) I don't think there is a part for a monitor - but in that case it shouldn't be that difficult to 'scratchbuild'...
