ES shifter bushings

As I was saying in my other post I order some bushings, SS, and a knob. Well some how my ES bushings arrived in less than 48 hours and I was bored so I decided I would go ahead and install them even tho my short shifter would still be a few days and I kinda wanted to see how much of a difference just the bushings made. Well after installing them I wasnt to impressed at all, my shifts are now loud as hell. It's like a clunk sound every gear and 3rd for some reason is real loud. It's not coming from my trans or anything like that its right at the top of the shifter. Before my shifter was quiet but now its like its hitting something. It does feel alittle stiffer but the sound really annoys me. Anyone else have this problem? I would put my factory ones back in but I lost one some how.

Re: ES shifter bushings

The reason it's louder is because there is a more direct motion to the trans. The old bushings were softer, allowing for a smoother engagement of gears, and now that the bushings are harder, the shifts will be firmer, giving a more positive feel in the knob. It might get better over time as the bushings wear in a little, but I always either have the windows down, or the stereo bumpin so I dont notice it at all.

Re: ES shifter bushings

i love the clunk clunk... ur just odd

no seriously, i love the feel of mine and when the engine is screaming, i don't miss gears like i used to just because of the trans. of course i got the motor mounts too! once you get the shortshifter though, i'm sure you'll learn to appreciate them some more.
