tapping or knocking? Water could of seeped thru one of the lower seals (not likely). The noise has to be determined.

Water might have go into the cylinder, when it fired it might have broke a rod. Not likely, does it have power issues?

Did you check the air intake to see if it was wet? With all the moving parts, water can splash up pretty high in the engine compartment. Check the ignition system, you may have a cylinder that is not firing. Do you have a check engine light on?

sounds like a lifter might have collapsed. Pull valve cover and confirm.

Re: 03 GT engine sucked water now knocking

well, that shows my age and why I should keep up with technology. I did not even know what a modular engine was. Looked it up though and educated myself. Saw a nice cross-section of a cyl. head. Just amazing!!! If the noise is coming from the top as stated, you should be able to use a stethascope and hear the location. Hope you did'nt bend a valve.

Check all of the sparkplugs and coil packs and make sure all of them are firing. Also see what the plugs look like.
